Absolute Lilt are an Irish lilting duo comprising of Lisa Canny and Niamh Hinchy.   Bringing a fresh image and feel to an old and beloved Irish tradition, Absolute Lilt have brought old Ireland onto a worldwide stage, whilst deeply connecting with millions of people from all walks of life.  Having only launched in May 2023 here are some highlights to date:

Concept

Concept...

An 8-part online series where Absolute Lilt, in partnership with Aer Lingus, drive to different parts of the country, picking up Irish personalities who "appear" to be hitchhiking for a lift home. Inviting them into the car we embark on the picturesque journey home - opening conversation around their favourite Irish traditions and stopping at their favourite local spot - be it top of a mountain, a beach or a local pub where we'd sit and sip on a pint together (non-alcohol for driver of course). Having admired/explored/captured their chosen spot we jump back in the car and take them the final leg home.  En route we:

1. Teach them a lilt, phrase by phrase, that we then all perform together before dropping them home

OR

2. Have them perform one of their own songs/raps while we provide our unique lilt backing. 

 

Examples of both creative approaches can be seen in this pilot episode we shot with artist Sophia Thakur.

The attached pilot was done in collaboration with MINI.  Our Aer Lingus collab would of course focus in on showing off the beautiful Irish land and cityscapes, shot professionally both on handheld cameras and on drones, like in the example to the right.

Tone wise, our in-car conversation will encourage guests to speak about their favourite places, memories  and adventures in Ireland, pulling focus towards topics that celebrate and portray our rich heritage of music, dance, craic, hospitality, friendliness, humour and pride.

Why you should say "Yes, dom diddly, DUH!!!!!"

Absolute Lilt and Aer Lingus are a perfect match, and not just because we share initials ;p 

 

1. Much like Aer Lingus, lilt is synomonous with Ireland, Irish culture, Irish heritage and the feeling of "home" in Ireland.  From the traditions part in preserving the Irish music repertoire during English rule, to it's use by Irish dance teachers in community centres across the country, to the revival of lilt in 2023 spearheaded by Absolute Lilt and seen in the increased numbers entering the Fleadh Ceoil lilt competitions in 2023 & 2024, as well as it's feature on Oscar-short-listed movie KNEECAP, it is clear that lilt is going nowhere - earned its forever home in the heart of Irish culture and heritage, much like that of Aer Lingus.

2. Our biggest market is the USA (stats attached to right and below), and more specifically the Irish-American diaspora market.  You need only do a scroll through the comments section on any of our online videos to read the thousands upon thousands of comments from people claiming that it "reminds <them> of home", reminds them of their late grandfather or grandmother, that it makes them "want to go back to Ireland", "frolic through fields in Ireland" or our personal favourite, making non-Irish "want to be Irish!"

 

3. What we do specifically with lilt is unique to us because we are the first to blend and harmonise lilting.  Blending and harmonising lilt as a duo allows us to celebrate one of the most magical aspects of Irish traditional music - the communal experience of sharing it with loved ones.  Partner that with the fact that we are best friends who share the same quick Irish wit and have an absolute BALL hanging out with each other and you end up with an infectious sense of joy and celebration of Irishness - something we also associate with Aer Lingus as a brand.

4. We are highly skilled at what we do and pay particular attention to detail.  Unlike other viral sensations who are only interested in likes, comments and sales, Absolute Lilt stands for something more culturally profound.  We believe we share that ethos of quality, detail and cultural impact with Aer Lingus.

5. Guests have been carefully selected not just because of their popularity, personality and our good rapport with them, but also because of their US and Australian following online, ensuring high impact where it counts.

6. Lastly, with 2x albums about to drop, 20-23% annual growth, enquiries galore from USA and Australian agents, festivals and venues it won't be long before we are touring the Americas and Australia.  We see huge potential for extending our collaboration beyond this first series, moving it from the road to the air and bringing our unique talent all over the world in partnership with Aer Lingus, concreting both of our roles in the continued success of Irish culture abroad and securing our places in the history books.
